Accounting Manager I
 
Primary responsibilities for the position include:
  • Develop an understanding of the client’s business products, services and business model
  • Ensure preparation and delivery of management reporting package each month
  • Update budget/forecasts (or request assistance in doing so)
  • Supervision of Transaction Specialist(s)
  • Monitor and identify opportunities for increasing productivity/streamlining of processes (ongoing and one time)
  • Ensure client processes and responsibilities are up to date/aligned with current work flow
  • Compilation of year-end tax work files for tax accountants
  • Assist in ensuring that CFO/Robin is up to speed on client’s financial position and expectations regarding account
  • Ongoing management of financial reporting accuracy and on-time processing of client information
  • Ensure accurate completion of bank, credit card and other balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Supervision and review of such work completed by Transaction Specialist
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll processing and compliance reporting
  • Supervision of client invoicing
  • Third Party Software Integrations with accounting software
  • Review and approval of account classifications
 
The background and experience of candidates interested in applying for the position should include:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Prior bookkeeping experience strongly preferred that involved processing of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll. Experience preparing payroll and related returns strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience managing a staff strongly preferred.
  • Prior financial reporting experience strongly preferred including historical and forecast reports and related analyses.
  • Strong technology skills using Microsoft Office 2007 or later (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook at a minimum, more applications preferred)
  • Prior experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a paperless and virtual environment strongly preferred.
  • Superior ability to prioritize and focus in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Team player with a positive – ‘can do’ approach.
  • A general and growing knowledge of firm products and services in the practice area, and a general knowledge of products and services in other practice areas
Positions are designed to be started as part time, with the ability to expand the position to full time within 12 – 24 months. Some individuals remain at part time and others shift to full time.
